Quality Assurance Engineer

Pagoda Labs is looking for a QA Engineer who combines strong manual testing fundamentals with expertise in modern test automation to scale quality at speed.

We’re looking for someone who understands the core principles of functional testing, usability, and performance validation, while actively using tools such as Cypress, API testing frameworks, and automation workflows to build efficient, repeatable, and high-coverage testing pipelines.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can move beyond ad-hoc testing and build smarter, framework-driven QA processes — working closely with developers, DevOps, and product teams to ensure consistent quality in every release and deliver measurable improvements in product reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement automated test frameworks with Cypress as the primary tool.
• Execute manual test cases for functional, regression, and exploratory testing.
• Develop robust end-to-end (E2E) test cases, integration tests, and regression suites.
• Collaborate with developers to integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Maintain and improve test coverage, reliability, and reporting accuracy.
• Proactively identify potential issues and contribute to early-stage debugging.
• Utilize AI-assisted testing tools to enhance test speed, coverage, and predictive quality analysis.
• Document and maintain test strategies, scenarios, and reporting dashboards.
• Perform database testing to validate data integrity, consistency, and correctness across application workflows — including CRUD operations, constraints, and referential integrity.

Automation Tools (Frontend & Backend):

• Cypress (primary)
• Playwright (secondary)
• Postman (API test automation via collections + Newman/CI)
• RestAssured (Java-based API testing)
• JUnit/TestNG, Mocha/Chai
• GitHub Actions / Jenkins (CI/CD integration)

AI Testing Tools (Preferred Experience):

• Testim.io
• Mabl
• Applitools Eyes (Visual AI Testing)
• Functionize
• Reflect.run

Database Testing:

• SQL (PostgreSQL / MySQL) for data validation and backend verification
• Database clients/tools such as DBeaver, pgAdmin, or similar

Others:

• Strong knowledge of JavaScript or Python (for scripting tests)
• Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
• Experience with bug tracking tools like JIRA, and test case management platforms like TestRail

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in QA (manual + automation)
• Deep understanding of software QA methodologies, test planning, and lifecycle
• Strong command over scripting languages for automation (JS, Python, or Java)
• Strong SQL skills for writing queries to validate backend data, verify persisted state in E2E flows, and troubleshoot data-related defects.
• Proven expertise in Cypress automation for web applications
• Familiarity with CI/CD testing workflows
• Proactive approach to identifying edge cases and failure points
• Experience working in Agile or cross-functional teams

Nice to Have

• Prior use of AI-based testing platforms in live projects
• Experience with performance/load testing (JMeter, K6)
• Exposure to TDD/BDD workflows using Cucumber or similar tools
